What do Stevie and Susan Carol do in order to get in touch with Chip in Chapter 8?

Susan Carol and Stevie both tell their fathers that they have radio interviews in the morning. They eat breakfast with their dads and then head to the hotel where the MSU players and staff are staying. They can't get past the security guard keeping people off the floors where the players are staying.
