Salvation, by Langston Hughes, is actually an early chapter in his larger memoir, The Big Sea. The point of view is that of Hughes, himself, as a child. It can be argued that the other point of view is a hidden third person....also himself...his older self, commenting on the event. However, it can also be said that the other point of view depicted is that of his aunt who'd told him that Jesus would come. He took this literally and thus, of course, the confusion.
