Krik Krak

The narrator brings the Madonna statue with her to every prison visit she has with her mother. The mother takes great comfort in holding the statue. At the end of the story, the daughter comes to understand what the statue meant to her mother—the statue symbolizing Christianity and the promise of salvation—and she clutches it tightly.
