The scene where Mikage cries on the bus is such a pivotal one because it is the first time that Mikage cries since her grandmother dies. Mikage has not let her emotions get out of hand before, and now her emotions are actually unleashed. It is a new feeling for Mikage, and not something that she knows how to deal with immediately.
