What role do the seasons play in Part Two?

Seasons play a large role in this part of the book. In autumn, Eriko is killed. Mikage learns in Winter, the next season. The previous Spring and Summer, Mikage spends a lot of time with Eriko and Yuichi. The seasons play a large role in the development of the story, and they mark the points at which life changes for the characters.
