What is the author's style in Kingdom Come by Mark Waid?

The language in this book is very straight forward. There is little hidden meaning for the reader to interpret. Readers who are not familiar with the D.C. Comics characters might feel as though they need more time to research some of the language or its meaning, however, any confusion can likely be addressed by using the character legend provided in the Apocrypha section in the Epilogue.
