The Nuremberg war crimes were held in Courtroom 600 of the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg. Twenty of Germany's most brutal leaders sat in the dock. American military police stood at attention. There were eight judges--two each from the United States, Britain, Russia, and France. The trials began with the reading of a 24,000 word document that listed the atrocities for which the men were being tried. It took two days to read the charges.
