At the end of Chapter 12, when did the German advance stall and why?

The German advanced stalled on Christmas Eve 1944. The Germans overran their supply lines. Without ammunition and gasoline, they were not able to wage an offensive campaign. That plus the continued progress of the Third Army spelled doom for the German Operation Watch.
