Who is Steve Leopard from Killers of the Dawn and what is their importance?

Steve Leopard (Leonard) is an enemy of the Vampires. Once Darren's best friend, he now holds a grudge against him because he believes Darren tried to kill him at the Cirque de Freak.

When leaiving the tunnels, Steve is taken hostage and confesses to Darren that he was involved in creating the obstacles and the mazes to fool the group, as they maneuver the tunnels to try to find the Lord of the Vampaneze.

When Steve breaks out of the prison, he kills a couple of nurses and injures some guards to make his escape. When Darren and his group arrive in the tunnels, Steve is already there waiting for them. Steve is with the Lord of the Vampaneze and Vancha's brother. At the end of the novel, Steve reveals that he is actually the Lord of the Vampaneze.
