Anny from Jude the Obscure is the closest friend to Arabella. Anny was the one who helped arabella get a younger man by giving her tips and tricks. She was shocked to learn that Arabella hadn't been pregnant when she married Jude but that it was all part of a trick. They eventually meet up after Arabella's husband dies and move in together.
