Who is Uncle/ Mr. Lorne from Johnny Tremain and what is their importance?

Mr. Lorne is married to Rab's aunt. He is also the publisher of the Boston Observer. Though Lorne is frightened of British reprisals, he continues to publish the Observer putting himself, as well as his family in danger.
