What is Joey not allowed to do on the field trip, and why?

While on the field trip, Joey is not allowed to eat any of the molasses pie because his teacher knows the sugar will make him more hyper, and he is not allowed to carve a pumpkin because he is too unpredictable, and holding a knife might be dangerous.
