What influence does the author say he hopes his book has on Christian research?

The author defines the book as one of research, as opposed to one of faith. However, he points out that that doesn't mean that either the research or the conclusions drawn from his research negates faith. Nor, is it intended to do so. Instead, he hopes to add depth to it, broadening and deepening insight.
