Why does Percy have a new found concern for Bertie's health in Chapter 15?

In Chapter 15, Percy is angry with Bertie because he has found out about Bertie and Florence's engagement. However, Percy also has a new found concern for Bertie's health because he has bought Bertie's ticket for the darts competition from Stilton. Bertie realizes that there is nothing stopping Stilton from beating him up.
