Why does Aunt Dahlia want Bertie to come to Brinkley in Chapter 8?

In Chapter 8, Aunt Dahlia tells Bertie to come to Brinkley so that he can cheer up Percy. Percy, who is in love with Florence, is at Brinkley with his parents and is heartbroken that Florence is engaged. Dahlia also asks that Bertie collect her pearl necklace, which is in town.
