Who is Mrs. Sarah Reed from Jane Eyre?

Sarah Reed is Jane's aunt, who begrudgingly cares for Jane because of a promise she made to her late husband. Mrs. Reed does take caJane's basic needs, but she is as cruel to Jane as her children are..... in fact, she models bad behavior.

On her death bed, Sarah reveals to Jane that her Uncle John had wanted to adopt her..... she responded that Jane was dead. She also gives Jane a letter from her Uncle John, which Jane answers. Jane becomes her Uncle John's heir.
