In Jane Eyre, what is foreshadowed through the line, "I could not, in those days, see God for his creature"?

This is the part where Jane has married Rochester and is so blissfully in love that she worships him. The theme of religion and morality begin to weave themselves throughout the novel and are apparent in this statement by her.
