When Wiley arrives in his livery to find the Duke and King beating Easter, he demands that the men leave Jim to help Easter with his work. Wiley initially seems kind and fair. However, shortly thereafter, he disappoints Jim's assessment of him by illegally selling Jim to Emmett.
