Lance is invited to participate in the 1990 Junior World Championship in Moscow. Unwilling to miss this amazing opportunity, he takes time off from school to train for this race. School officials do not approve of his absence and they fail to support him as an athlete. His high school will not allow him to graduate on time. In response, Lance and his mother find a private school that accepts him which allows him to graduate on time.
