Captain T. P. Halsey is one of the captains aboard a ship during the hurricane. Halsey commandeered the Louisiana and was headed directly for the path of the hurricane. His steamship survives the hurricane, but his arrogance and stubbornness symbolizes many sea captains at the time who believed a mere hurricane should not stop their schedule of sailing.
