Who is Beck Weathers from Into Thin Air and what is their importance?

Beck Weathers was not a climber thought to have survived this climb. He was part of the group that is stranded in the storm but when help comes, he is presumed dead. Several hours later he somehow staggered into camp with no oxygen. He represents how luck, fortitude, and desperation can save a climber on Everest.
