What is the significance of the fact that more guides than clients were lost on the mountain during the expedition?

I think it tells us that guides feel pressured to take risks because of the money that clients pay to get them up the mountain. Frequently Sherpas are asked to do reckless and risky things in order to satisfy wealthy customers who want to climb the mountain.
