1. How has this text changed your understanding of slavery?

I find Jacob's narrative to be my favorite among the slave narratives. Although other narrative address the separation of families, Jacob's narration pulls at the heart strings..... she is genuine, and through her words we not only learn about her circumstances and oppression..... we feel her emotion.
