How does Mac use the analogy of running new hunting dogs with old timers with Jim?

Mac requests to take Jim for training because all of the reading in the world is not enough without on-the-site-training. Mac needs to be the old timer who has been out in the field numerous times to show the new hunting dog the ropes and what is expected.
