Who is Odysseus from The Iliad and what is their importance?

Odysseus, King of Ithaca, was the son of Laertes and Anticleia. Odysseus had once courted Helen but married Penelope instead. He is described as clever, devious, and organized. He was an integral part of Agamemnon's court.
