Describe what the mansion was like before renovations in the novel, If There Be Thorns.

The old mansion is described as having lots of rooms and hallways that are odd shaped and have high ceilings. There is moldy furniture, and it is filled with mice and mice droppings, spiders, insects, and the occasional trapped bird. Bart calls it spooky, imagining ghosts inside it.
