Who is H. A. Lorenetz from Ideas and Opinions and what is their importance?

Dutch physicist, H. A. Lorenetz, established the grounds for the theory of relativity at the turn of the twentieth century. Einstein, however, appreciates him most for his ability to organize scientists from all nations. Einstein described Lorentz as free of national prejudice and devoted to the common good. He presided at congresses of physicists before World War I, and afterward, he strove to re-establish the cooperation lost during the conflict between men of learning and scientific societies.
