Why did Bilquis believe her family would be ashamed if they knew she was visiting Christian missionaries?

Bilquis believed she would lose everything if she chose to follow Jesus because she knew of many people who were murdered after their baptisms. The Quran teaches Muslims to be "hard against unbelievers."
