Why did Maurilio stop raising his son Luismi even before he was incarcerated?

While Luismi was still a young boy, his father Maurilio decided to teach himself how to play the guitar. Soon after, he announced to his mother Dona Tina that he was leaving to make a living as a musician. Dona Tina then agreed to raise Luismi on his behalf.
