Outline the steps the Grandfather takes when he does his job.

The Grandfather begins by laying the remains of the dead flat within the trench so that they will rest easier. Then he covers the remains with one layer of lime and one layer of sand. Finally, he finishes the process by "laying chicken wire over the entire pit and placing rocks on top of that so the stray dogs [don't] come digging up the bodies in the middle of the night" (199). The Grandfather feels that the most important step, however, is to assure the dead people that there is "a way out of this hole" (199).
