Why does Clari's father help Mrs. Murphy take down her antenna in the novel, Hurricane Friends?

When Calri's father takes Mrs. Murphy's antenna down, he says that "I think Mrs. Murphy is too stubborn to ask her neighbors for help!" Thus, he helps her because it's the right thing to do.
