What metaphors are used in Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones?

One metaphor in the novel is the Witch turning Sophie into an old woman.... this transformation is a metaphor for the way Sophie feels...... the fact that she feels much older than she really is due to overwork and stress.
