significance of Seattle

Helen and her husband go to Seattle when they marry. Although her husband leaves her, Helen remains living there for seven and a half years with her two daughters. The car that she uses to drive back to Fingerbone and to her death is borrowed from her Seattle neighbor, Bernice.
