What troublesome story does Johnny remember about his days working for the canning factory?

Johnny worked at the canning factory when he was 13 years old, although he was supposed to be 16. He remembers being invited onto a boat trip with some of the other workers, but a storm rolled in and a Haitian man was killed on the boat. Johnny swears he will never forget these events.
