Who is Mrs. Mehta from Homeless Bird and what is their importance?

Mrs. Mehta is Hari’s mother and Koly's mother-in-law. She is short tempered with Koly and steals Koly's pension checks after Hari's death. After the death of her own husband, Mrs. Mehta abandons Koly in a strange city with little money and no way to make her own way.
