Beth is the wife of the narrator in Christmas Means Giving. She is a fervent consumer, who supports her husband's competition with the Cottinghams. Beth goes so far as to give away several pieces of her body in order to outdo Cottingham's lung donation. Beth dies in a cardboard box, alongside her husband.
