Who is Dr. Masakazu Fujii from Hiroshima and what is their importance?

Fujii was a physician and owner of a private hospital. When the bomb exploded, Fujii was sitting on his porch..... his home and hospital were destroyed, while he was thrown into a nearby river. After extricating himself from the debris that trapped him, Fujii realized he had multiple broken bones. He later went onto open another hospital.
