Hinds' Feet on High Places

Why is Much-Afraid so unwilling to have the twins, Sorrow and Suffering, as her companions on the journey to the High Places?

Much-Afraid expected the Shepherd would make the trip with her. Also, the twins seemed so strange to her with veils covering their faces and speaking a language she did not understand. Their names even gave a negative connotation.
