Why did Lindsey and Hatch go to the lake in the novel, Hideaway?

Lindsey and Hatch go to the lake in an attempt to regain some of the easiness they once had with each other. They both feel hollow after the death of their child, and the weight of the event never lifted from their shoulders, despite their best efforts.
