Why do the French soldiers feel so ashamed during the battle?

The French soldiers are ashamed because they thought they could easily defeat the English. They had grossly underestimated Henry and his army and had not taken the situation seriously. Instead, they had mocked their enemy and played games of dice over the potential spoils.
