The chorus encourages the audience to imagine that they have personally seen the king and his fleet embarking from Hampton and sailing. for France. He uses descriptions that appeal to many senses, such as describing the actions of the crew, the movement of the ship on the waves, and the sound of the whistle. He also asks the audience to imagine the scene from multiple perspectives. In addition to having the audience imagine the scene from the English perspective, the chorus has them view the scene from the French perspective as well. The chorus tells the audience to imagine they are on the French coastline watching the fleet dancing on the waves.
