Who is Turombo from Henderson the Rain King and what is their importance?

Turombo is the exceedingly strong Wariri man, who picks up the idol Hummat during the rain ceremony. He cannot, however, lift Mummah. Henderson believes that Turombo is unable to life Mummah because of the shame he feels for past defeats. This is, however, an incorrect assumption, as we later learn that Turombo doesn't want to become Sungo because of the danger.
