In Chapter 39, how do Kaori, Valencia, and Gen save Virgil from the well?

In Chapter 39, Kaori, Valencia, and Gen save Virgil from the well when Gen comes up with the idea of using her jump rope to help Virgil get on the ladder so he can pull himself out. Valencia climbs down the rungs of the ladder into the well and ties the rope onto the end so Virgil can reach it and pull himself out.
