In Chapter 35, why does Gen think they might not need the snakeskin stone any longer?

In Chapter 35, Gen thinks they might not need the snakeskin stone any longer because they now have a pillowcase from Chet that was wrapped around his arm after he got bitten by a snake, so it probably has some snake juice on it - which might be close enough to snakeskin stone for their purposes.
