What is May's reaction when Paige tells her she plans to return to her husband and son?

When Paige tells her mother she must leave, May tells her that she cannot go home again, that Nicholas will not welcome her back. Paige becomes angry and asks her mother why she never came back. Did she not want to know what was happening with Paige? Did she not realize everything she had missed in Paige's life, things Paige had needed her to be present for? May tells Paige she is just like her. However, for the first time, Paige realizes she is nothing like her mother.
