What metaphors are used in Harlem Gallery by Melvin Beaunorus Tolson?

In the story, The Shift of Gears, the man symbolizes the white man. The man's aggressiveness and driving style..... he drives his car like he's driving an old horse and buggy, illustrate his inability to adapt to the new and progressive ways of the time. Tolson uses the "white" man's driving as a metaphor to declare that white men must adapt and include black Americans in their society.
