Where does Felix end up after leaving the Makeshiweg Theatre Festival?

Felix goes for a wandering, aimless drive after leaving the Makeshiweg Theatre Festival, and ends up in the country, wishing for a “hidey-hole, a place where he knew no one and no one knew him. A retreat where he could recuperate” (30). He finds a hovel of a house built into a hillside, with only its front showing, and a chimney stack standing above it. He contracts with a woman in a neighboring house to rent the place she calls the shanty, and goes back to his rented apartment to collect his things and move in.
