What is it like for Anne-Marie when Felix introduces her into the prison?

Anne-Marie says that the place looks grim, but Felix says that “stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage” (149). He introduces her to the security guards, who explain the security pager, and confiscate her knitting needles, which they say could be used as weapons.
