What does Felix do to his identity when he rents the shanty?

Felix tells Maude, his new landlord, that his name is Mr. Duke, and he opens a bank account and rents a post office box in town under the name F. Duke. He even goes so far as to get a credit card, and is surprised at how easy it is to disappear from his previous life as a prominent director.
