How is Felix let go from the Makeshiweg Theatre Festival?

Felix is let go in the most peremptory, supercilious way, as Tony shows up and tells him he has bad news, then lets him know that he is being let go, that Tony himself will take over for him, and that Felix’ personal items have been put in cardboard boxes which he will find with his car. At a subtle sign, security guards show up to escort Felix out of the building, to his car and his possessions, which are soggy with the drizzling rain.
